NEXUS members recognised for their dynamic approach to the aftermarket

Two members of NEXUS Automotive International (N!) have been recognised in prestigious national awards for their dynamic approach to the aftermarket.

Viacar, of Greece, emerged as one of the top 200 most dynamic businesses in the annual Growth Awards, organised by Eurobank and Grant Thornton.

The awards highlight Greek companies that combine strong economic performance with a successful modern business story, contributing to shaping a new landscape of entrepreneurship and work culture in the country.

Companies are evaluated using a Grant Thornton ‘Financial Growth / Health Matrix’ and Viacar distinguished itself among around 8,000 enterprises considered for the award.

The company’s achievement was announced at Athens Concert Hall on Tuesday, 6th February, before an audience of more than 2,000 guests.

The 17-member prize committee was co-chaired by Nikolaos Karamouzis, Chairman of Eurobank, and Vasilis Kazas, Managing Director of Grant Thornton, and also included leading figures from Greece’s business and academic communities.

Partboyz Autoparts, of Nigeria, has been selected to join the inaugural cohort of the Masschallenge Texas Accelerator in Austin Texas, USA, an accelerator program for start-up companies that provides mentoring, training and free workspace.

Founded in a single kiosk in July 2015, the aftermarket retailer has grown quickly into five retail shops with 20 staff members and has ambitions to ‘bring the car parts business in Africa into the 21st Century’.

More than 500 start-up businesses from around the world applied to join the Accelerator program, with 280 chosen to pitch and just 84, including Partboyz, making the final cut.

Masschallenge Texas is a non-profit organisation. The 84 successful start-ups will take part in a four-month program from April to August at the end of which the best will be invited to pitch for $500,00 in equity-free grants.

NEXUS CEO Gael Escribe said: “On behalf of NEXUS I offer big congratulations to both Viacar and Partboyz Autoparts whose successes show that entrepreneurial spirit burns brightly in the heart of the progressive N! Community. I am sure we will hear of more success for these two dynamic businesses in the future.”

NEXUS Automotive International (N!) has announced a partnership with Alternative Autoparts, a leading group of independent French car dealers.

Alternative Autoparts was created 18 months ago and has 28 members, distributors of automotive spare parts, 67 points of sale, 13 technical relays specialised in engine management and 70 garages under the Technicar Services network.

The Alternative Autoparts group has a national platform La Plateforme de Fresnes in the Paris region, 4 regional logistics warehouses located in the main French cities, and a consolidated turnover of over 250 million euros.

Gael Escribe, CEO of NEXUS, said Alternative Autoparts' entrepreneurial philosophy echoes that of NEXUS, in that it is necessary to have a global vision of the market and therefore be able to join forces to meet the challenges of tomorrow. The expertise and know-how of Alternative Autoparts will also add value to NEXUS Academy, the innovative training program that helps NEXUS members stay up-to-date with the latest technological advances in after-sales.

Gael said: "We are more than happy to announce this partnership in the growing NEXUS community. There is much in common in how we approach the opportunities and obstacles of an ever-changing after-sales world. We are also delighted that Alternative Autoparts, through its Fresnes Platform, will be able tomorrow to strengthen the offer and availability of technical parts for all NEXUS members in France and abroad.”

Alternative Autoparts will also provide the NEXUS community with its in-house training programs on Maintenance and Repair of the Future, a technical hotline specializing in diesel, gasoline, hybrid and, in general, all engines and innovative concepts in the field of engine pollution control for light vehicles, trucks and buses (EcoRévision, EcoRévision VI).

Fabrice Godefroy, Managing Director of Alternative Autoparts said: “We are confident that this partnership with NEXUS will be a real growth accelerator that will offer our members solutions that will enable them to become the major players of tomorrow.”

Patrice Godefroy, President of Alternative Autoparts, said: " NEXUS is undoubtedly the international group to favour. We are looking forward to strengthening our role in France and gaining an international dimension and to bringing our know-how and added value to a global group that is now shaping the future automotive aftermarket.”

NEXUS strengthens support for its partners in the 'very promising' Chinese market

NEXUS Automotive International (N!), the global automotive community, established in five continents, is strengthening the support it provides for N! partners seeking to develop business opportunities in promising markets.

China and the wider Asia Pacific is one of these markets, where N! is leading a number of initiatives providing advice, services and other help to its members and suppliers.

Underlining its commitment to support the N! Community wherever it is in the world, the NEXUS leadership team held its latest Board of Directors (BoD) meeting in Shanghai. It was the first time the high-level gathering had been staged outside the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region.

The meeting was also an opportunity to gather together more than 120 N! members and suppliers who were participating in the Automechanika exhibition in Shanghai.

At the meeting, NEXUS’s projects development were unveiled, and the event ended with a special ceremony in which N! was appointed a member of CAAM, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, represented by Assistant Secretary General Mr. Xu Haidong.

N! Chief Executive Gael Escribe said: “Holding our first BoD in China is more than just a symbol. It is a tangible sign of our commitment to the very promising Chinese market and the tremendous opportunities it will provide for the next 10 years for N! suppliers and partners.

“To fulfill our role as an accelerator for the N! Community it is essential the NEXUS leadership is close to the field and fully aware of the major growth dynamics around the world. With our strong presence in Shanghai and the support we are providing for local associations we are already becoming part of the country’s aftermarket establishment’.”

The global community has opened an office in Shanghai, manned by a staff of four, and appointed a second Business Development Manager for the region, all focused on providing support for N! members and suppliers.

Bas Donders, N! Business Development Director for the Asia region, said: “It was particularly pleasing that the progressive spirit we see among N! members around the world was equally present in Shanghai and that the value-adding initiatives we bring to the table are as relevant and popular here as they have been elsewhere.

“This is proven by the fact that in the very near future Asia will become the leading region for our innovative NEXUSAUTO workshop concept, which has been fully embraced by the N! membership.”

The alliance’s membership in China has been boosted with the recruitment of the Harson Group, the largest luxury car repair chain in China. Parent group of the N! member G-Part, Harson Group’s turnover reaches 1’500 m RMB through several business units in China covering both luxury car repair chain stores and middle-class car repair chain stores. Harson Group is also developing specialized workshops dedicated to paint, spray, car washing and tyres.

NEXUS’s worldwide programme of N! Connecting Days will be repeated in 2018, including a gathering in Singapore to address other developments in the Asia-Pacific region.

NEXUS 'truly global' as progressive alliance extends reach to Australia and New Zealand

NEXUS Automotive International (N!) is ‘the only truly global’ progressive aftermarket alliance after the leading autoparts distributor in Australia and New Zealand became the latest to join the network. It means N! now has a presence across six continents, a strategic objective declared just three years ago.

More than ever, wherever its members or suppliers are running their business, N! is there to support them. The new member is Australian Stock Exchange-listed Bapcor, whose group operations support a workforce of 5,600 worldwide.

Bapcor is Australasia’s leading provider of automotive aftermarket parts, accessories, automotive equipment and services and can trace its roots back to 1971. The group’s core automotive business segment covers trade, retail, service and specialist wholesale, via over 900 locations in Australia and New Zealand.

N! Business Development Director Martin Hendriksen said: “Bapcor is a market leader in their sector, and we look forward to providing them with the innovative and value-creating support that NEXUS is gaining a reputation for.

"The Australian and New Zealand markets offer exciting opportunities which we will develop working with Bapcor and N! suppliers. The Asia Pacific region is a dynamic one, where our entrepreneurial approach is likely to yield positive results and we look forward to a great adventure with our new N! Community member.”

Also joining the Asia Pacific group is G-Part Automotive, one of China’s leading aftermarket distributors. The company is headquartered in Shanghai, ‘the automotive city’, and specialises in the distribution of German car parts.

NEXUS CEO Gael Escribe said: “The entrance of G-Part is an important pillar for the further development of the China aftermarket structure. With its help, we will be able to implement our innovative and ambitious N! programmes, such as the N! Academy / School, DR!VE+ and N!Auto.

"For most aftermarket players Asia Pacific is the market of the future. But for NEXUS, with our new important members in Australia, New Zealand and China, Asia Pacific is already a market of today.

"In a remarkable three years we have achieved our stated objective of developing a worldwide network, and are confident we can now rightly claim to be the only progressive, truly global alliance in the automotive aftermarket. Being truly global makes N! an unrivalled growth accelerator for progressive companies in the automotive industry.”
