Micheldever Tyre & Auto Services awards new supplier agreement to The Parts Alliance

Micheldever Tyre & Auto Services, one of the fastest growing independent fast fit networks in the UK, has renewed its supplier agreement with The Parts Alliance for a third term.

Recent expansion of its network across the UK provides 98 fast fit and mechanical centres offering a full range of tyres for car, motorcycle and agricultural vehicles as well as MOT testing and car servicing for all makes and models.

The new contract, worth over £8 million, will run until the end of 2018 and appoints The Parts Alliance for the supply of all vehicle parts, covering Braking, Steering and Suspension, Emission and Service Repair products.

Mark Harley, Retail Operations Director for Micheldever Tyre Services Ltd, said: “The Parts Alliance has the largest network for automotive parts distribution. They supply a full range of OE Quality products and deliver hourly to our centres, which is vital to our business and has helped us provide our customers with outstanding service.”

The Parts Alliance national service from over 160 locations is enhanced to over 300 distribution sites through its strategic partnership with the IFA which was established in 2015. The alliance created a major force within the automotive aftermarket, offering National customers the largest parts distribution network, with quality OE branded products supplied from over 3,000 delivery vehicles.

The Parts Alliance’s annual sales are over £500 million, with the IFA annual sales in excess of £250 million. This provides their customers reassurance in a changing market place on the stability of both groups and provides a united approach for National Account contracts.

Though The Parts Alliance and the IFA collaborate closely on National Accounts, they  retain their independence for procurement and supply to independent garages and workshops, offering them a choice through their established local brands and service.

Mike Curry, National Accounts Sales Director for The Parts Alliance, said: “Our flexible partnership with the IFA has been a great success, providing the largest network for supply to National Account customers to provide unrivalled service. We share similar values and are both committed to providing quality products and service.”

Peter Sephton, The Parts Alliance CEO, said: “It is great news that after working with us for five years, Micheldever has renewed for a third contract term. We look forward to working with Mark and his colleagues as they continue to expand and develop their business. We remain committed to working with all our customers to deliver outstanding service, quality and systems that help them develop their business.”

The Parts Alliance first to market with autoparts vending machines for the AA

The Parts Alliance is pioneering the use of autoparts vending machines in partnership with the AA, providing the UK’s biggest breakdown provider with access to parts on-the-road 24-hours a day.

The PA PartVend concept is being piloted in a number of strategic locations, with the machines electronically linked so The Parts Alliance can tell instantly which products are being used and when to replenish the stock.

Mike Curry, Sales Director National Accounts for The Parts Alliance said: “Early results are very positive and we hope to ramp up the number of locations significantly and pretty quickly.

“The vending machines not only allow access to stock out of normal hours but also mean we can get product closer to AA patrols in areas where we currently don’t have branches.”

A typical stock item is a battery, the AA patrol gaining access using a secure key code.

Curry added: “It’s another way of extending our reach and increases the number of locations where the AA can quickly pick up parts if they haven’t got them on the van.

“They get what they need, the beleaguered motorist is back on the road more quickly and we have a sale. It’s a win for everyone.”

Peter Sephton, Chief Executive of The Parts Alliance, said: ‘’The PA PartVend vending concept is a world industry first and contributes to our position as a technology leader in the distribution of auto parts in Europe.

‘’It integrates with our class leading electronic catalogue, AlliCat, and our Parts Alliance Reporting and Compliance tool, PARC , that allows our customers to gain full traceability of their parts in the supply chain.”

The Parts Alliance is the UK and Ireland’s largest group of wholly owned and franchised businesses supplying OE and matching quality autoparts to national and independent garages and workshops.

The AA’s patrols attend an average 10,000 breakdowns every day across the UK.

Curry added: “It’s thanks to building up very strong relationships with major companies, and working closely with them, that when we propose innovative concepts they are amenable to them.

“Having completed the feasibility study we will work with the AA to identify exactly where and how many of these vending machines are needed.”
