NEXUS’s leadership position in the Chinese aftermarket has been further strengthened with three major distributors the latest to join the progressive alliance. It brings the number of N! Members in China to 24.

NEXUS’s presence in China has grown rapidly, not only with new members joining but also through increased co-operation with N! Suppliers and development of the N! ACADEMY.

In addition, following its acceptance into the World Economic Forum, NEXUS participated in the Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions, held in Dalian (1st to 3rd July). The AMNC is a global summit on innovation and entrepreneurship.

The new China partners are Deutschland Auto Spare Parts, based in Hong Kong, Henan Huatai Autoparts, the largest parts distribution group in Beijing province, and the online retailer Tianjin Baichuan E-Commerce.

All three were introduced to the N! ASIA community at an N! Connecting Day event in Shanghai, 3rd and 4th July, which attracted around 25 N! Members and N! Strategic suppliers.

Day 1 was dedicated to N! suppliers, with NEXUS announcing plans for 2020 and onwards. These feature a strong focus continuing the success of the N! ACADEMY, including plans to launch two Knowledge Centres and extending the training offer to be able to train up to 2,000 workshops in China by 2020.

The day ended with an open discussion with suppliers, followed by a joint Member/Supplier cocktail reception and dinner.

Day 2 was dedicated to N! Members and, following a plenary session, selected N! Suppliers Bosch, Valeo, MANN+HUMMEL and ZF held workshops on ‘How N! Suppliers can help N! Members to make profit on their products/ grow their business/ get better connection to workshops’. At the end of the session N! Members were given the opportunity to vote for the best supplier, won equally by VALEO and ZF.

James Zhang, NEXUS Business Developer for China, said: “We are delighted to welcome our new members to the N! Community. China is a large and extremely important market and working together we can build even greater business opportunities for all. The plans announced at N!CD Shanghai are proof that N! is not about just collecting a ‘bonus’ but is clearly re-investing back into developing the aftermarket, supporting both members as well as suppliers.”

Partnership with JD.com underlines NEXUS' focus on digitalisation and emerging markets

Global alliance NEXUS Automotive International (N!) has taken another big step forward in its strategy to invest in fast emerging markets and embrace the digital world by agreeing a partnership with leading online retailer JD.com.

The China-based e-commerce giant had an estimated turnover of $55.7 billion in 2017 and plans to have a B2B and B2C car parts business of more than $1 billion by 2021, contributed by more than 300 million active users.

JD.com operates around 210 warehouses in over 50 cities in China, where it has more than 5,000 delivery and pick-up stations in approximately 2,350 counties and districts. It has sold automotive products directly to consumers for several years and successfully entered the B2B market in 2017.

The contract with JD.com, plus the significant addition of leading ‘traditional’ Chinese distributor DZF to the NEXUS Community, underline NEXUS’ strong commitment to realising the potential in what is one of the biggest automotive markets in the world.

NEXUS CEO Gael Escribe said: “Through this agreement with JD.com we are further embracing the digital world, giving NEXUS a broader perspective with an indisputable strong e-commerce channel. JD.com is the perfect symbol demonstrating NEXUS’ focus on emerging markets, more specifically on China, and also our obsession to stimulate innovation.”

The agreement with NEXUS includes its B2B entity Qiguangxing (Beijing) Information and Technology and the B2C affiliate Jingdong Century (Beijing) Trading Company.

Gael also extended a warm welcome to DZF as the latest N! Member in China. DZF Trading (Guangzhou) Co Ltd is a national autoparts distributor dedicated to supplying OE and premium quality parts to its 146 shareholder customers in 30 provinces. DZF specialises in chassis and engine parts, electronics, thermos and cooling systems, and oil and other lubricants.

Gael said: “By developing digital sales channels, and extending our N! Membership, NEXUS is keeping its promise to build on the foundations we have established in the China/Asia region. Given its amplitude, this approach is not feasible in mature markets, where distribution channels are much more established and where such a partnership would create more turbulence than anything else”.

NEXUS launches two new projects in China

NEXUS Automotive International (N!) is increasing its activity in China as it accelerates its strategy of supporting emerging markets with potential for rapid growth.

The progressive automotive community has already invested heavily in establishing a team of eight to help N! members access new business in what is the largest automotive industry in the world.

Now it has launched two important new projects into the region, the N! Academy training programme and its NEXUSAUTO workshop concept.

The initiatives were unveiled to 17 of China’s premier automotive distributors, all N! Members, who were brought together with N! Strategic suppliers for the N! Connecting Days event in Shanghai.

The N! Academy workshop training has been launched in partnership with CASCA, the Chinese aftermarket association that is connected to over 6,000 workshops. NEXUS is a strategic member of CASCA and has a position on its executive committee.

The N! Academy will offer face-to-face dedicated technical workshop training in more than eight different cities in China, including online education and an interactive Wechat platform for online broadcasting of training, sharing best practice, technical skills and daily experiences of those connected to N! E-Academy.

The NEXUSAUTO workshop concept has been introduced successfully in several countries in Europe including France, where NEXUSAUTO garages were judged to be among ‘The Best in France’ in a nationwide poll of motorists. It provides access to innovative NEXUSAUTO services as well as ensuring garages operate to high standards applied globally. In China the launch of this concept is effective and already several workshops have been opened in the region, thanks to the combined leadership of NEXUS and N! Member G-Part.

James Zhang, China Business Developer for NEXUS, said: “Following extensive groundwork in China, we have really pressed the accelerator on the services and support we offer the N! Community there. The country’s aftermarket is undergoing dynamic change driven by disruptive technologies, in particular the increasing adoption of online channels."

NEXUS CEO Gael Escribe said: “The passionate support we are receiving from the N! China group, and the progress being made, underlines to us that our strategy of focusing on emerging markets with potential for rapid growth is the right one. It has encouraged us to follow the Shanghai gathering with a broader Asia Pacific N! Connecting Days event in October involving other countries from this area of the world.”

NEXUS strengthens support for its partners in the 'very promising' Chinese market

NEXUS Automotive International (N!), the global automotive community, established in five continents, is strengthening the support it provides for N! partners seeking to develop business opportunities in promising markets.

China and the wider Asia Pacific is one of these markets, where N! is leading a number of initiatives providing advice, services and other help to its members and suppliers.

Underlining its commitment to support the N! Community wherever it is in the world, the NEXUS leadership team held its latest Board of Directors (BoD) meeting in Shanghai. It was the first time the high-level gathering had been staged outside the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region.

The meeting was also an opportunity to gather together more than 120 N! members and suppliers who were participating in the Automechanika exhibition in Shanghai.

At the meeting, NEXUS’s projects development were unveiled, and the event ended with a special ceremony in which N! was appointed a member of CAAM, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, represented by Assistant Secretary General Mr. Xu Haidong.

N! Chief Executive Gael Escribe said: “Holding our first BoD in China is more than just a symbol. It is a tangible sign of our commitment to the very promising Chinese market and the tremendous opportunities it will provide for the next 10 years for N! suppliers and partners.

“To fulfill our role as an accelerator for the N! Community it is essential the NEXUS leadership is close to the field and fully aware of the major growth dynamics around the world. With our strong presence in Shanghai and the support we are providing for local associations we are already becoming part of the country’s aftermarket establishment’.”

The global community has opened an office in Shanghai, manned by a staff of four, and appointed a second Business Development Manager for the region, all focused on providing support for N! members and suppliers.

Bas Donders, N! Business Development Director for the Asia region, said: “It was particularly pleasing that the progressive spirit we see among N! members around the world was equally present in Shanghai and that the value-adding initiatives we bring to the table are as relevant and popular here as they have been elsewhere.

“This is proven by the fact that in the very near future Asia will become the leading region for our innovative NEXUSAUTO workshop concept, which has been fully embraced by the N! membership.”

The alliance’s membership in China has been boosted with the recruitment of the Harson Group, the largest luxury car repair chain in China. Parent group of the N! member G-Part, Harson Group’s turnover reaches 1’500 m RMB through several business units in China covering both luxury car repair chain stores and middle-class car repair chain stores. Harson Group is also developing specialized workshops dedicated to paint, spray, car washing and tyres.

NEXUS’s worldwide programme of N! Connecting Days will be repeated in 2018, including a gathering in Singapore to address other developments in the Asia-Pacific region.

NEXUS 'truly global' as progressive alliance extends reach to Australia and New Zealand

NEXUS Automotive International (N!) is ‘the only truly global’ progressive aftermarket alliance after the leading autoparts distributor in Australia and New Zealand became the latest to join the network. It means N! now has a presence across six continents, a strategic objective declared just three years ago.

More than ever, wherever its members or suppliers are running their business, N! is there to support them. The new member is Australian Stock Exchange-listed Bapcor, whose group operations support a workforce of 5,600 worldwide.

Bapcor is Australasia’s leading provider of automotive aftermarket parts, accessories, automotive equipment and services and can trace its roots back to 1971. The group’s core automotive business segment covers trade, retail, service and specialist wholesale, via over 900 locations in Australia and New Zealand.

N! Business Development Director Martin Hendriksen said: “Bapcor is a market leader in their sector, and we look forward to providing them with the innovative and value-creating support that NEXUS is gaining a reputation for.

"The Australian and New Zealand markets offer exciting opportunities which we will develop working with Bapcor and N! suppliers. The Asia Pacific region is a dynamic one, where our entrepreneurial approach is likely to yield positive results and we look forward to a great adventure with our new N! Community member.”

Also joining the Asia Pacific group is G-Part Automotive, one of China’s leading aftermarket distributors. The company is headquartered in Shanghai, ‘the automotive city’, and specialises in the distribution of German car parts.

NEXUS CEO Gael Escribe said: “The entrance of G-Part is an important pillar for the further development of the China aftermarket structure. With its help, we will be able to implement our innovative and ambitious N! programmes, such as the N! Academy / School, DR!VE+ and N!Auto.

"For most aftermarket players Asia Pacific is the market of the future. But for NEXUS, with our new important members in Australia, New Zealand and China, Asia Pacific is already a market of today.

"In a remarkable three years we have achieved our stated objective of developing a worldwide network, and are confident we can now rightly claim to be the only progressive, truly global alliance in the automotive aftermarket. Being truly global makes N! an unrivalled growth accelerator for progressive companies in the automotive industry.”

Nexus achieves €10 billion turnover - now present in 100 countries

CEO Gael Escribe: " Wherever you come from in the world, NEXUS’ ambition is to be the ‘business catalyst’ of the aftermarket.”

Geneva, September 2016

Major automotive aftermarket alliance NEXUS Automotive International (N!) has continued its global growth and achieved a record €10 billion in consolidated group turnover.

The figure is €1 billion ahead of expectations outlined in February, when it was hoped to reach €9 billion by the end of 2016.

The milestone will be announced by N! CEO Gael Escribe as member companies from more than 100 countries are due to meet ahead of Automechanika Frankfurt for two days of business ‘connecting’.

Gael said: “Our vision for Nexus’s place in the global aftermarket is to be a leader and reaching this landmark figure of €10 billion is a major step towards that. Nexus has been in existence for only two-and-a-half years but through the collective efforts of all in the N! Community we have achieved so much.

“With N! members in more than 100 countries and 60 global supplier contracts in place, Nexus has the world-wide reach, collective strength and credibility to fulfil our vision of bringing innovation and entrepreneurship on an unprecedented scale to the aftermarket.

“From Sao Paulo to Johannesburg, Birmingham to Barcelona, Dubai to Shanghai, wherever you come from in the world, Nexus’ ambition is to be the ‘business catalyst’ of the aftermarket.”

N! will shortly take a big step forward in China with the establishment of its Chinese representative office in Shanghai. The office will enable N! to be closer to its members and suppliers, facilitate future co-operation and respond quickly to the needs of the China market.

The local team in Shanghai will be supervised by Bas Donders, N! Marketing and Sourcing Director, who has 25 years’ industrial experience.

Gael added that while new membership opportunities would continue to be sought in fast-growing markets, the focus would increasingly be on developing business and projects with existing N! members.

Also, having reflected on the vision and objectives of N!, it had been decided not to renew the co-operation agreement with N! Alliance Russia beyond 31 December.

In the meantime, some 140 N! participants will meet in Frankfurt for the latest round of N! Connecting Days (12, 13 September) during which they will explore opportunities to develop new business between them.

Gael said: “At the end of the day, Nexus is about creating value for our members. It’s pleasing to see a recently published study shows four out of the top five champions of growth in the French aftermarket were all Nexus members, as were six out of the top seven for champions of productivity. We would say that’s no coincidence.”
