The seventh and final N! Connecting Days event of 2017 was held in Johannesburg, giving members and suppliers of NEXUS Automotive International an ideal opportunity to meet before attending the city’s Automechanika international trade show.

N! Connecting Days have been held on five different continents this year, highlighting the global reach of the progressive aftermarket alliance.

The latest, the N! Africa Connecting Day, was held at the Fairlawns Hotel on Tuesday, 26th September, and was attended by around 50 N! members and N! suppliers.

A plenary session was followed by a series of organised speed-dating business meetings.
N! CEO Gael Escribe said: “NEXUS Automotive International is the world’s largest automotive community, and by providing local support and global services we are driving the success of automotive car and truck parts distributors, wherever they are in the world.

“Coming here to Johannesburg has given us a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from those doing business in this region and discuss how we can work closely together to help accelerate some of the opportunities in front of them.”

This year’s N! Connecting Days have been in Moscow, Sao Paulo, Dubai, Atlanta, Shanghai, Gdansk and now Johannesburg. However, there will be no fest for the N! team as NEXUS will be making its full exhibition debut when the global alliance jointly hosts a stand at the Equip Auto show in Paris in October.

Atlanta the venue for N! North America Connecting Days

Leading autoparts distributors who are members of N! North America, the United States representative of global aftermarket alliance NEXUS Automotive International (N!), gathered in Atlanta, Georgia, for two days of networking at which potential business opportunities were discussed with N! suppliers.

The N! Connecting Days event took place at the Courtyard Atlanta Decatur hotel on Monday and Tuesday, 22nd and 23rd May.

North America was confirmed as the number one region within the global N! Community in March last year, when initial member AUTOMOTIVE DISTRIBUTION NETWORK (The NETWORK) was joined by AUTOMOTIVE PARTS ASSOCIATES (APA) and VIPAR Heavy Duty.

As the N! North America team, the three core members held nearly 20 productive one-hour meetings with individual suppliers over the two Connecting Days, explaining the aims of the new organisation, sharing ideas, knowledge and strategies, and exploring how they could work together for mutual benefit.

Gary Martin, APA Group President and CEO, said: “The NEXUS Automotive International community continues to expand, growing in both distributors and key supplier relationships, and we’re proud to support the community through Connecting Days. This event helps further those global alliances while maintaining a North American focus.”

Inaugural N! North America supplier and technology awards were announced at the event. The Supplier Partner of the Year Award went to Bosch, while WHI Solutions Inc. was named Technology Partner of the Year.David Prater, President of The Network, said: “The success of N! North America is based on the free exchange of ideas between the partners and our suppliers. This has led to opportunities to collaborate in many areas. We appreciate the input and support of all of our partners, but it is gratifying to recognize these two companies who have gone above and beyond in their support of NEXUS.”

N! North America members have collaborated on a variety of projects, including a B2B platform to provide an e-commerce solution for end-user customers as well as national accounts with vehicle ranges from class 1 up to class 8. Chris Baer, President and CEO or VIPAR Heavy Duty said: “The work among the members of our group on this technology project is precisely the type of collaboration we envisioned when we formed NEXUS North America. We anticipate more projects like this that help us better serve our customers.”

NEXUS CEO Gael Escribe said: “In recent months, the NEXUS team has travelled the globe facilitating hundreds of meetings between members and suppliers, bringing them together to build on existing relationships and develop new ones. Nowhere was enthusiasm to be part of the progressive N! community greater than in North America. It was a huge pleasure to bring our successful N! Connecting Days forum to the United States, our number one region.”

The N! North America event followed N! Connecting Days in Moscow, Sao Paulo and Dubai.
