NEXUS adds further weight to its Heavy Duty focus with appointment of senior business developer


NEXUS Automotive International (N!) has strengthened its support for the Heavy Duty sector with the senior appointment of Janusz Zielinski as the alliance’s first Truck Business Developer.

Janusz, Polish native, has more than 20 years’ experience in the international automotive aftermarket, particularly in Commercial Vehicles in Europe, the Middle East and Africa within the global manufactures Meritor and Schaeffler.

NEXUS has recently increased its Heavy Duty focus, unveiling initiatives to accelerate the growth of the NEXUSTRUCK workshop concept while also seeking more generally to build business for all its suppliers and members.

A major task for Janusz in his new role will be to guide the setting up of the first NEXUS HEAVY DUTY Business Forum (N!BF Heavy Duty), which will take place in Abu Dhabi in March.

A qualified ski instructor and Alfa Romeo classic car enthusiast, Janusz speaks English, German, Polish and Russian. He said: “Having had some experience of NEXUS in my previous posting, I know it to be the most dynamic and forward-thinking international trading group in the world. It’s a role and a challenge that excites me.”

Today’s N! heavy duty community is made up of 42 N! members and 47 heavy duty parts suppliers, with a collective turnover of more than 3,300M€ covering 20% of N! volumes.

Global aftermarket leaders to meet in Montreux at Nexus Business Forum

Leading players in the global automotive aftermarket are to meet in Switzerland next week to discuss key issues that are shaping the future of the industry.

More than 350 delegates from 65 countries will attend the third annual NEXUS Business Forum being held in Montreux from Tuesday to Thursday (21st to 23rd February).

Those attending are members of NEXUS Automotive International (N!), the global alliance of autoparts distributors, and N! approved suppliers.

Over the three days they will hear from 15 guest speakers who will present the latest insights on major topics, including the threats and opportunities around telematics and connected cars. They will also take part in a total of 4,500 N! member-supplier speed date business meetings as well as several interactive workshops.

Three years intense geographic expansion closes with integration of Nordic Forum

Three years of intense geographic expansion for NEXUS Automotive International (N!) are drawing to a close with top 10 European wholesaler group The Nordic Forum among the latest members to join.

The Nordic Forum was among six new members in December, bringing the total to a record 105, some 47 of which were recruited during 2016. The Nordic Forum consists of FTZ of Denmark, Inter-Team of Poland and Hellanor of Norway. As well as traditional wholesale, it is active in e-commerce through its companies Iparts and Ucando.

N! CEO Gael Escribe said: “It has been a truly amazing year, with powerful growth giving us a presence in 113 countries. Two new regional organisations were also created, NEXUS Automotive Algeria and NEXUS North America, and two additional ones, NEXUS Automotive Brazil and NEXUS Automotive Central Europe, are about to be launched.

"Our first three years were devoted to the development of the N! network and to a very intense geographic expansion, with the objective to be a growth accelerator for progressive companies in the automotive industryAt our 2017 N! Business Forum in Montreux new priorities will be disclosed for the next three years in direct response to what is a fast-evolving, ever more demanding and consolidated automotive aftermarket.

They will include education, which began with the launch of the N! Academy School aimed at helping managers within N! member companies to be much better prepared for future market trends. The first School took place in Geneva (28th Nov to 1st Dec) and saw purchasing managers from 60 companies from around the globe discussing and updating their knowledge on safety and environmental issues.

Hosted by the European Institute of Purchasing Management, it included presentations from six N! strategic suppliers - BOSCH, SKF, ZF/TRW, EXIDE, MANN+HUMMEL and VALEO. It also provided the opportunity for delegates to exchange best practice and further develop relationships between members and suppliers.

Gael said the 2017 N! Business Forum (21st to 23rd Feb) will be ‘even more original and interactive’ than the previous two, with leading experts discussing major industry topics and high level workshops providing greater involvement for delegates, as well as the normal speed-date business networking.

He concluded: “It is our ambition that Montreux, within three years, will be recognised around the globe as the leadership platform for the Automotive Aftermarket, a date on the calendar that our industry looks to for insight, innovation and inspiration.”

Major automotive aftermarket alliance NEXUS Automotive International (N!) has continued its global growth and achieved a record €10 billion in consolidated group turnover.

The figure is €1 billion ahead of expectations outlined in February, when it was hoped to reach €9 billion by the end of 2016.

The milestone will be announced by N! CEO Gael Escribe as member companies from more than 100 countries are due to meet ahead of Automechanika Frankfurt for two days of business ‘connecting’.

Gael said: “Our vision for Nexus’s place in the global aftermarket is to be a leader and reaching this landmark figure of €10 billion is a major step towards that. Nexus has been in existence for only two-and-a-half years but through the collective efforts of all in the N! Community we have achieved so much.

“With N! members in more than 100 countries and 60 global supplier contracts in place, Nexus has the world-wide reach, collective strength and credibility to fulfil our vision of bringing innovation and entrepreneurship on an unprecedented scale to the aftermarket.

“From Sao Paulo to Johannesburg, Birmingham to Barcelona, Dubai to Shanghai, wherever you come from in the world, Nexus’ ambition is to be the ‘business catalyst’ of the aftermarket.”

N! will shortly take a big step forward in China with the establishment of its Chinese representative office in Shanghai. The office will enable N! to be closer to its members and suppliers, facilitate future co-operation and respond quickly to the needs of the China market.

The local team in Shanghai will be supervised by Bas Donders, N! Marketing and Sourcing Director, who has 25 years’ industrial experience.

Gael added that while new membership opportunities would continue to be sought in fast-growing markets, the focus would increasingly be on developing business and projects with existing N! members.

Also, having reflected on the vision and objectives of N!, it had been decided not to renew the co-operation agreement with N! Alliance Russia beyond 31 December.

In the meantime, some 140 N! participants will meet in Frankfurt for the latest round of N! Connecting Days (12, 13 September) during which they will explore opportunities to develop new business between them.

Gael said: “At the end of the day, Nexus is about creating value for our members. It’s pleasing to see a recently published study shows four out of the top five champions of growth in the French aftermarket were all Nexus members, as were six out of the top seven for champions of productivity. We would say that’s no coincidence.”

Nexus Automotive Algeria first national organisation for Nexus Automotive International on the African continent

NEXUS Automotive International, the global automotive aftermarket alliance, has taken a major step forward in Africa with the establishment of NEXUS Automotive Algeria, its first national organisation on the continent.

The new local organisation, with headquarters in Algiers, will be launched on Monday, 16th May and will comprise A&M Distribution, DOUADI Automotive, HABCHI Auto Distribution and SIAD Automobile Group. The four N! members are some of the most important spare parts and equipment distributors for cars and trucks in Algeria. Each group has large retailer networks in all of its main cities, giving NEXUS Automotive Algeria an immediate national dimension.

Gaël Escribe, NEXUS Automotive International CEO, said: “We are very pleased with the foundation of this new organisation, which underlines both the ambition of the leading distributors involved as well as their involvement in the professionalisation and structuring of the aftermarket industry in their country.”

Mohammed Siad, President of Siad, who will head up the new group, said: “To join this international group gives us the perfect means to resist a random evolution of the market. Working together we can take a strategic approach, drive innovation and make the most of business opportunities in the aftermarket.”

A first step will be choosing a manager to take charge of supplier relations, manage the network’s operations and co-ordinate strategic projects. Meetings will be held on Monday and Tuesday, 23rd and 24th May, to update suppliers on overall plans for the short and the mid-term.

NEXUS Automotive Algeria has made training a priority, through the development of N! ACADEMY.  Abderrezak Akroune, CEO of A&M Distribution, said: “We intend to develop new concepts in purchasing and logistics, as well as on the commercial side, as we have fixed the objective to structure and grow. To achieve this, very specific guidance is necessary.”

NEXUS Automotive Algeria will work closely with the N! selected international training provider, EIPM (European Institute of Purchasing Management). Fayçal Douadi, CEO of Douadi Automotive, said: “It is critical that our training programmes are of the highest calibre, as we wish to ensure that the professional competency of our managers at all levels aligns with the organisation’s development.”

The meetings will also consider how best to introduce the N! private label DR!VE+, which is positioned to offer quality automotive parts at attractive prices while countering the spread of cheap inferior products. Redjem Habchi, CEO of Habchi, said: “The Algerian market cannot only absorb premium ranked parts when the minimum salary is of 200 Euros. The DR!VE+ solution, developed in partnership with N! suppliers, will definitely facilitate the access to new market segments.”

The new organisation is also considering the rapid setting up of garage networks for cars and trucks, under the NEXUSAUTO and NEXUSTRUCK brands, which will follow an audit of the technical training needs of repairmen and mechanics in the country.

North America becomes the No 1 region within the Nexus community

NEXUS Automotive International (N!) has welcomed two important new members in North America, consolidating its presence in what is now its number one region.

The initial member AUTOMOTIVE DISTRIBUTION THE NETWORK (The NETWORK), which joined N! in July last year, has now been joined in the N! community by AUTOMOTIVE PARTS ASSOCIATES (APA) and VIPAR Heavy Duty.

NEXUS Automotive International (N!) has significantly strengthened its presence in the Middle East, welcoming DYNATRADE AUTOMOTIVE GROUP as an exciting and important new partner.

Dynatrade, with its headquarters in Sharjah near Dubai, specialises in European, Korean, and Japanese car parts and is one of the fastest growing distributors in the region. 

Its addition as a member is a major step forward for N!, which has set growth in the Middle East as a top priority in 2016.

Nexus Automotive International unveils key initiatives to take it from aftermarket challenger to global leader


NEXUS Automotive International (N!) has unveiled the details of five initiatives that will help drive the aftermarket challenger towards its target of being a global leader.

Already established in 84 countries, the major autoparts distributor is looking to do more than just extend its global reach in 2016; its aim is to help member companies and suppliers maximise the business opportunities created. To achieve this N! has:

  • Launched the N! Academy, a certified aftermarket programme offering a wide range of training, including management, technical and sales skills
  • Added a host of new products to its successful DR!VE+ private label service brand
  • Introduced N! Slow Mover, a tool that enables slow moving stock to be promoted into wider markets via the N! community
  • Built a sophisticated intranet, called CON!NECT, which will bring members and suppliers closer together, encouraging more business, and
  • Introduced an IT reporting tool enabling in-depth analysis to help drive performance and growth in the N! community.

Details were given at the second annual NEXUS Business Forum, held in Montreux, Switzerland, (3rd to 5th February), which included two days of business ‘speed dating’ between suppliers and N! members.

More than 300 delegates attended, representing around 70 nationalities, clear evidence that NEXUS Automotive International is now global, said Chairman Gael Escribe.

Reaffirming the organisation’s ambition to increase the total consolidated turnover of its membership from today’s €7.25 billion to more than €9 billion by the end of 2016, Gael said N! saw aftermarket potential in a further around 100 countries.

“Our vision is one aftermarket and for NEXUS to be a leader, no more a challenger,” he said, reminding the audience N! had, in just two years, already achieved 59 supplier contracts of which 50 are global.

This year will see the United States, through NEXUS Automotive North America, become the biggest region for N! with Western Europe close behind. However, the focus will continue to be worldwide with developments in other places, including China ‘a region that is really starting to consume autoparts’, said Gael. 

The organisation was also pleased to have welcomed its first member from Iran, ALBORZ YADAK TRADING, creating ‘a huge opportunity’ for it to be the first Iranian company to ‘go multi-national’.

As well as outlining the key initiatives and progress to date, the Forum also addressed the issue of Connected Cars, with a round table examining the threats and opportunities this new technology will have on the aftermarket.

Nexus reveals winners of the Innovative Supplier of the Year awards 2016

A range of zero and low-copper brake pads and a smartphone app that makes life easier for engineers and distributors have won the companies that developed them a prestigious international award for innovation.

FEDERAL-MOGUL, headquartered in Germany, and NTN-SNR of France, were declared winners of the first NEXUS Automotive International ‘Innovative Supplier of the Year Awards’ announced in Switzerland at a three day conference involving many of the leading players in the global automotive aftermarket.

FEDERAL-MOGUL was recognised as the supplier with the most innovative product, its Eco-friction range, while NTN-SNR’s TechScaN’R saw it acclaimed the supplier with the most innovative new service.

These were the inaugural innovation awards run by NEXUS Automotive International (N!), the major autoparts distribution group that has established a global footprint in just two years.

N! Chairman Akram Shahrour, who presented the awards alongside N! Executive Director Philippe Guyot, said: “We firmly believe that innovation is key if a business is to thrive in today’s ever changing, highly competitive world.

“Both companies have shown tremendous ingenuity, technical capability and entrepreneurial spirit in addressing hugely important product and service issues.

“The quality of entries for these inaugural awards was very high, and we thank all those who took part, but FEDERAL-MOGUL and NTN-SNR stood out above the rest.”

FEDERAL-MOGUL used an innovative new tribological fingerprinting process to create its Eco-friction range of zero and low-copper brake pad formulations, developed to meet new government environmental regulations.

NTN-SNR’s TechScaN’R works on smartphones and tablets and enables users to access technical information more easily. The user scans the part number and receives the information without the need for a QR code or to run searches on an overloaded website. 

Some 300 delegates attended the conference, the second annual NEXUS Business Forum, held in Montreux (3rd to 5th February), at which suppliers and N! members engaged in two days of business ‘speed dating’, exploring opportunities to conduct business with each other.

As well as announcing the Innovative Supplier of the Year Awards, Akram Shahrour also revealed that DINAMIK OTOMOTIV, of Turkey, had been selected as the NEXUS Automotive International ‘Member of the Year’.

He said: “DINAMIK OTOMOTIV has consistently demonstrated it is completely in line with NEXUS’s values and principles of taking a global approach to the aftermarket and creating value through innovation and international co-operation.”

Nexus Automotive International strengthens global footprint as growth continues

NEXUS Automotive International (N!) is further strengthening its global footprint with new, strong and strategic members joining in December 2015 and significant progress imminent in the US.

Outlining its blueprint for growth in 2016, the major automotive parts distribution group also revealed plans for accelerated development in Western Europe and Africa.

In addition, an office will be opened in Hong Kong, adding to those in Geneva, Paris, Sao Paulo, Dubai and Johannesburg, as N! seeks to make further inroads in Asia-Pacific.

Chief Executive Gael Escribe said: “With the advantage of such a strong footprint, the N! Team is engaging a progressively global approach to business development for the organisation’s members and key suppliers. 

“Our objective is to achieve aggressive growth around the world. We already have 59 supplier contracts in place, of which 48 are global, and a significant number of one-day global business development sessions set up for the next 12 months with key component manufacturers.

“Our plans are unashamedly ambitious. However, since our formation we have shown that through developing a highly focused, lean operation we can achieve impressive results.

“We have an infrastructure that enables us to deliver effective local support around the world, one that is optimised to respond quickly to developing opportunities and to the requirements of our key suppliers and partners.”

Major developments in 2016 include:

United States

  • The creation in January of NEXUS Automotive North America, with the strong AUTOMOTIVE DISTRIBUTION NETWORK playing a lead role in establishing the most innovative wholesale operation in the US, Canada and Mexico.
  • Non-disclosure agreements have been concluded with four leading players in the Passenger Car and Commercial Vehicle sectors, including Heavy Truck, which in the coming weeks should see N! welcoming new leading distributors to the network.
  • This programme of activity will see the US become the largest region in the N! network in 2016.

Europe West

  • Plans for Western Europe will see it emerge as the second biggest N! region in 2016.
  • There will be a focus on France and the French Overseas Territories, working with the major groups ID Rechange, APPRAU (N! member since December 2015), Speedy and SACI (N! member since December 2015) to create a new alliance of independent distributors which should emerge by the end of June and feature a multi-channel approach to aftermarket distribution.
  • Further progress has been made in Sweden, driven in partnership with ABR and GETE.
  • The recent acquisition of GSF Motor Factors by N! shareholder THE PARTS ALLIANCE will see further consolidation in the UK aftermarket.

Europe East

  • AUTOMOTIVE TEAM s.r.o will join as member for Czech Republic and Slovakia, under the future regional leadership of Interland (Poland).
  • First steps have been taken in the Baltic region prior to the creation of a local N! organization with the involvement of SENSON GROUP (Latvia).


  • Developments in Africa will include the creation of the regional organisation NEXUS Automotive Sub-Saharan Africa, in which WAG (Worldwide Automotive Group), with 70 outlets in South Africa and other countries, will take a lead and will include the addition of new members DESAMARK, also South Africa, AUTOPARTS in Zimbabwe and MATERAUTO, of Madagascar.
  • Also being formed is the local organisation NEXUS Automotive Algeria, with details of its strategic plan to be unveiled at Equip Auto Algeria in March.


  • Seen as a very promising market, particularly in Iran, it offers opportunities in line with one of N!’s strategic pillars; that of connecting leaders of fast-growing markets with leading component manufacturers. ALBORZ YADAK COMPANY (PARVIZIAN, Iran) has been recruited as an important new member with talks continuing with other business groups.

Latin America

  • The signing of five new members in Uruguay - FEYVI, WERNER BERHEIM, MONDILLO & ALDAY, D’ANY - and Chile - NORIEGA, subsidiary of EMASA Group - will see progress accelerate in this region with further expansion expected later.


  • With ZONG AO, DONG FANG ZAO DI TRADING C0. Ltd, BEIJING XINXUYING TRADE CO. Ltd., BEIJING BEIFANG TONGBAO AUTOPARTS C0. Ltd joining the Group, N! is continuing its step-by-step approach to China with the aim to be a leading force in this market by the end of 2016. The new office in Hong Kong will act as its key business development base in the region.
  • There will be an additional strong focus on India with the prestigious TVS MOTOR COMPANY taking a strong lead in developing this major market opportunity.
